With the support of the GIZ and JICA funds, a 10-member delegation from Kyrgyzstan went on a 14-day business trip to Japan. The main goal of the trip was to learn from Japan’s best practices in creating and managing geoparks and to exchange experiences.
The delegation included employees of the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Specially Protected Natural Areas of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of regional and district administrations, as well as members involved in managing geoparks in Kyrgyzstan.
The delegation also included BatSU’s Vice Rector for Economics and Finance, Musа Mursaaprovich Usunov, who represented our university at this important international event.
During the trip, participants learned about the creation of unique geoparks in Japan. Japan has a total of 37 geoparks, 10 of which are included in the UNESCO Global Network. The Japanese side shared its experience and conducted specialized training sessions.
The Kyrgyz delegation presented the geoparks of our country, including:
📌 Madygen Geopark (Batken Region), a unique site with paleontological and geological resources, included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
📌 Teskey Issyk-Kul Geopark (Issyk-Kul Region).
📌 Osh Geopark (Osh Region).
Japanese colleagues expressed their willingness to support the development of Kyrgyzstan’s geoparks. This is an important step in preserving our natural resources and promoting them on the global stage.
This trip opens new opportunities for the development of BatSU and Kyrgyzstan as a whole, strengthens international cooperation, and contributes to sustainable development in the conservation of our natural heritage.
